*A warm welcome to people from any part of the world!*
DONQ at Sogo is my favorite Japanese bakery shop. They offer fresh and tasty breads. That day I bought some Christmas bakery...mostly because I was attracted by their looks. If you happen to come to Sogo at Hong Kong perhaps you could have a look at this bakery shop (located at the basement)!
The little bat bookmark and booklet was a gift for attending the Ducks Tour (about 45 min).
As a bird-watching beginner, it's best to have a reference on hand. That's why I bought the "A Photographic Guide to The Birds of Hong Kong" last year. A DVD is also included!
The extinguishing Black-faced Spoonbill is a star of the Wetlandpark. It keeps sweeping its bill back and forth in the water. Very cute.
Its tail wobbles while it's walking, so cute!
My first tole painting work after moving and renovation. I don't have much time so I picked this simple one to do.
This wooden toilet paper holder was bought a few years ago. It was bought in the Jusco $10 store, which equals under US $2. Too bad they don't carry much DIY stuff anymore.
It adds a touch of country feeling to my washroom. :>
Every year, autumn and winter are the best seasons for bird watching. It's time for birders like me to go out and meet the birds!
It's my 5th visit to the Hong Kong Wetland Park. Mai Po is also a good place but if you want to go to the Mai Po Nature Reserve you'd have to apply for tours or you need a pass to go in. For Wetland Park you just need to pay for the admission fee. That's why although it's a long trip to go to the Wetland Park, I still don't mind going there again and again. It's a very nice place.

I've got my new Canon with me of course, so the first thing upon arrival is to try out my camera.
Hmm....I have trouble using the Macro focus...maybe I haven't got the hang of it yet.
The pic was shot from far away, using 35x zoom.
Can you tell where the bird is in this pic?
So excited...
There're 4 turtles outside the window of the park. I thought there were fake, but after a while one of them started moving! Hey, they're real!

So funny!
Let's have lunch first. There's a Grey Heron beside the window. Thanks for the company! It stood there all the way through the meal.

There comes another cute birdie. White Wagtail.
I have wanted to buy a camera that can take macro pictures (miniatures, plants and flowers etc.) and at the same time that can take pictures for far away objects (like birds) for a long time. Every time when I'm out traveling I feel that my Lumix DMC-FX38 is not enough (even though it's a very good camera). The Lumix can't give me that "sharp in the front but blurry in the back" look.
Until I found that there are cameras called Superzoom prosumer type, which I can zoom in a lot and not pay lots of $ like the DSLRs. This is good news for me because I can pay less and I don't have to carry too much weight around. I've searched around the internet for quite a bit and among the competitors (Nikon Coolpix P500, Sony Cybershot DSC-HX100v, Fujifilm FinePix HS22, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150), the Canon PowerShot has won. At first I was struggling between Panasonic and Canon (which I think were the best for me to choose from) and couldn't decide. But finally I've decided on the Canon because of its great zoom, 35x (vs. Panasonic's 24x). If I like to take bird photos, I figured that I should get the one with more zoom. The bigger the better. The other thing that attracts me is the 24mm wide angle and 0cm macro. It can also take full HD movies. Although I've read a lot on the internet before buying, I'd still have to try it out to see whether or not the camera really suits my needs. Will see how it goes!
Use the Canon as Binoculars
I'm happy with it.
After using the camera for a few birding trips (and some uses at home), I feel that I'm happy with it. It's not really heavy, and can zoom in quite a lot. If I don't want to carry too much, I could use it as binoculars. The Canon is especially good when you're panning across the field because it naturally glides you smoothly across the field. Sometimes when you're moving it needs some time (not as good as the Lumix 150, some say) for focusing but I think with a great zoom you can't expect that much.
The macro, however is a bit difficult to control. If I take something too close, the long lens with get in my way. Well, that's why it's a called a Superzoom, not Supermacro!
Having abandoned this blog for a while (please see my old blog link), I've decided to blog here again. I'm probably going to blog mainly in Chinese from now on, since it's my native language after all. Actually if I could blog in both English and Chinese would be good, for different audience. Sorry if that causes an inconvenience for my followers!
