Little Chipmunk

This little chipmunk was started in autumn and finished in the winter.  Needle felting takes a long time, plus that its body isn't easy to shape(I followed a book).  So I've let it sit for some time after I've started.  Can't leave it unfinished of course, so I picked it up again so here it is!

Although it's just a little chipmunk, I've used a lot of colours of wool.  It sure wasn't easy to finish, but I'm content about the finished product.  ^_^

Chipmunks are actually different than squirrels, although they are of the squirrel family.  I was thrilled when I saw them in Canada.  They're sssuch adorable little creatures!!

Le Sucre Mug and Glass

::>_<:: span="">

This is a Le Sucre mug.  As I've mentioned before, Le Sucre is a Japanese character I love.  I'd love to own anything that's Le Sucre.  However, I can't because I'd be broke by now.

I own four cups/glass of Le Sucre.  This green one is the most recent.  It comes with a paper box.  Green is my first choice, as always.  At first I wasn't that fond of it, but once I've bought it home, I love using it.

When the day is hot, who wouldn't appreciate a glass of iced drink.  Peach Green tea.  This glass was bought from Taiwan.  Goes great with Le Sucre stainless steel spoon.

This was also from Taiwan.

This lovely mug was bought in HK, but it cracked.  Now it's not usable.  For decoration only now.  It's such a pity...

Cute rabbit inside the cup.

Miniature Setting~Fresh Morning

More photos in Picasa web album, click here.

I started this miniature setting Jun 08.  Later I stopped and then began again that Oct, then stopped again.  This year I finally picked it up and finished it Jul 12, 13!  Because it was inside the cabinet for a long time, the miniature table's a little grey.  Some dust is stuck to the sausage!  >_<

Making a miniature setting is quite a complicated process.  From design to materials choosing to actual construction, everything takes time to finish, especially things that need to be dried repeatedly.  The larger the setting, the less motivation there is to get it finished.  However, to me the contentment of doing miniatures is greater than any other kinds of crafts.  ^_^  Medium small setting is my favorite size.  The project doesn't have to be dragged for too long but you've still got something to see.

The weather isn't so stable lately.  I had to grasp the chance for photography when there's sunshine.

Originally this setting didn't have a window.  After a few years, I wanted one.  I used thick basswood for the wall but it wasn't good for cutting.  Won't use it next time.

Rubber Stamp Carving~Le Sucre

For more photos, please click here.

I always have a hard time doing only one craft at a time. When I'm doing something, my head thinks of doing another!

I'm considered a beginner at carving rubber stamps.  Last year I bought the Japanese rubber "Seed", because it wasn't readily available in the market and because of the price, I thought I would try it out when I'm more advanced.  However, I let it sit for almost a year and I how many times have I practiced carving?  About 3 times...  This while my hands are feeling itchy and I want to try out the Japanese rubber!  Can't wait any longer!

So what should I carve?  I can design my own but at the moment I want to practice using my favorite Japanese character Le Sucre (an adorable French rabbit).  Am I violating copyrights?  :P

Last Thursday I carved Le Sucre's head.  I tried carving with another Japanese rubber, Hinodewashi first.  This was left from my rubber stamp lessons.  Before carving, I had to think over which parts to carve and which parts not to carve.  When I first encountered this craft I was quite confused.  I'm starting to get the hang of it now.

用青綠色面(I like green!), 白底的Seed 橡皮.

The tiny eyes are the most difficult area because they could easily be carved away accidentally.  Also the lines are very thin.  You start to wonder what you're doing after a while.  Why choose such a difficult subject for a beginner!  >_<

The contentment is really great when you try out the stamp.

Yesterday I tried the whole bunny.  This time I used the Seed rubber.  It's a double layered rubber and has a green top and white bottom.  Although you could colour your own rubber I still prefer one that already has colour.

I'm lack of techniques, especially the blank places...however I'm still very happy upon finishing because I really love Le Sucre...How great it is to have my own Le Sucre stamp...even though I don't know what to do with it, ha ha!
The one on the left wasn't stamped properly.  The dress was meant to be like this though.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
一發不可收拾, 今天用最想試的啡底粉紅色面Seed 橡皮.  好像一塊好吃的巧克力.  最想試的原因是因為想看看深色底橡皮會不會易看些, 哪處有刻哪處沒刻一目然.  果然是很好用!
Once I've started I couldn't stop.  The brown Seed was the one I wanted to try the most.  Today I finally opened it.  It's like a piece of yummy chocolate.  The reason I wanted to try this out was because I wanted to see if it's easier to see carved/uncarved areas.  There was no disappointment with using this rubber.
變了黑兔...  Became a black rabbit...
因為橡皮深色, 更易看得出哪裏有瑕疵.  趕著試印, 稍後再雕好些.
Because the rubber is dark, it's easier to see the flaws.  I wanted to try the stamp out, so I'll fix that later.
試印另一style.  Try out another style.
與Miniature 相比, 刻章更要用神.  我眼睛不好, 不可以常刻喔!  >_<
曰本橡皮, 還是會繼續買.
Comparing to Miniatures, stamp carving is even more eye-straining.  My eyes aren't good so I can't do stamp carving all the time! >_<
I will continue to buy the Japanese rubber.
彩繪~兔子傘架 Tole Painting~Bunny Rabbit Umbrella Rack
這個彩繪可不得了...很久歷史...  應該是2007年在日本買下的.  看回筆記, 2008年頭設計(但不記得有沒有開始), 其間拿出來塗一下, 接著又放回櫃內.  如此就過了幾年.  其實大部份已一早塗好了, 只是欠那盆栽內的小白菊, 總是提不起勁畫上它們, 因為覺得較複雜...其實很快便可畫好了! 原本是設計很多花的, 現在只畫上三朶, 兔兔已很滿足了!  :P
買這彩繪板前, 考慮了一會兒, 因為要帶它上飛機有點難度.  07年前遊日本時已見過它, 但太多東西要帶了, 沒有買(又偏愛買大型彩繪木器).  今次再見它便不放過啦!
這兔兔是連著傘架一起放的, 可放4把長傘.  愛買彩繪木器就是因為實用啊!  但我應該不會放傘子, 不捨得喔...況且傘子會擋著兔兔啊!  >_<
This tole painting has a long history.  I think I bought it back in 2007, from Japan.  Looking at my notes, I did the initial design in Jan 2008.  I think I've started at that time, but through the years I kept taking it out and painted a little and put it away again.  Now it's 2013!  Actually most of it was done a long time ago, just that I couldn't get myself to paint those little camomile....I thought it'd be a complicated job (but turned out to be really quick actually).  I was going to paint more flowers but now I've just got 3...doesn't matter, Bunny looks content with them anyway!  :P
I've already saw this product at another trip before the 2007's, but the size hindered me in buying it...I already had other tole painting wood pieces to bring....but when I saw it the next year I couldn't resist again!
This Bunny Rabbit goes with an umbrella rack.  I like tole painting because it's very practical!  It can hold 4 long umbrellas.  I don't think I'm going to use it though because...I wouldn't be able to see what I've painted then!  >_<
兔兔種出小白菊很滿足!  Bunny is happy with her garden grown camomile!
塔石藝墟點滴 Art Fair at Tap Seac May 17-19, 2013
A summary on the Art Fair at Tap Seac, May 2013~~
藝墟第一天:擺放東西後發覺沒甚麼好看...其實不大想帶家裏的作品出來...要移動它們實在很危險...明天還是硬著頭皮帶它們出來吧.
藝墟第二天: 擺位有改善, 但我們攤位位置正正面向太陽, 感覺上有35度高溫...快要燒著了! (滴汗) 只想去洗個澡!
藝墟第三天: 擺位最滿意了, 當然還有改善的空間. 今天體驗的同學特別多, 我的肩開始痛...
在此謝謝各單位的支持! 下次(若然有的話)再努力!
1st Day: After placing all the stuff on the table, I stepped back and took a look....and discovered that the scene wasn't very pleasant...there was not much to view.  Actually I didn't want to take my miniatures out because it's very dangerous to bring them around...
2nd Day: Brought out some miniatures.  A hot and humid day.  My gosh, it was like 35 degrees and my butt was literally burning from the sun.  Help!!!  I want to take a shower!
3rd Day: Best looking booth today, but still lots of room for improvement.  Today we had quite a lot of students doing mini lessons.  I bended my back for a long time and oh my shoulders started hurting...yikes....
Thanks to those who supported me in the event.
I will try to do better next time (if there IS next time)!
